As a full-time working mom I needed a reliable breastpump to get me through my time away from my kids. I wrote about a hilarious incident in our book, It’s Really 10 Months: Delivering the truth about the glow of pregnancy and other blatant lies. It involved me trying to be thrifty and borrowing a friend’s pump. It was about 100 years old and nearly sucked my eyeballs out through my nipples. After that I seriously RAN to the nearest baby store and started my research on the best investment.
When I say “investment” I mean it. It was an expensive purchase but like all things–you get what you pay for. I knew the pump had to be great quality, reliable and discreet as we were going to be spending lots and lots of time together. I chose the Medela Pump In Style. It came from a trusted brand, it was light and it came in this cute, easy to carry bag.
After three kids and too many months of breastfeeding to count I decided I needed to figure out what to do with my trusty pump. The old gal had been sitting on the top shelf of the closet for over a year.
From Medela website:
“Each pump we receive through Medela Recycles supports the donation of new hospital-grade, multi-use breastpumps and supplies to Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®). The goal is to provide moms with the same high-quality equipment they use at the hospital during their stay at a Ronald McDonald House. This consistency will ease the transition from the hospital to a Ronald McDonald House and give families caring for a baby in the NICU one less thing to worry about.”
The simple act of recycling your trusted pump through the Medela Recycles program provides you with both the peace of mind that your pump will be recycled properly with the added benefit of knowing you are supporting another mom on her breastfeeding journey during a challenging time. This became such an easy decision for me. Medela makes it so easy on their website and even pays for shipping. WOW!! What a perfect option.
In honor of Medela’s recycling program, my graduation from breastfeeding, and Earth Day we are giving away several bottles of Medela’s own Quick Clean breastmilk removal soap.
I’ve personally tried this soap and believe me — it is amazing. Not only did it make my life easier when cleaning the mountain of bottles that piled up from daycare and pumping it also removed the film off sippy cups when my little ones got bigger.
