As you probably know, we don’t do many sponsored posts on our blog. When we are presented with opportunities we carefully consider how they correlate to pregnancy, parenting or our overall lives. Not only that, but family time is valuable and will the opportunity enhance precious family time and create memories? In this case, the answer was an absolute yes! I can only begin to tell you what a great time my husband, three young kids and I had at the Worlds of Fun 2nd Annual Food and Wine Festival this past weekend. This is something you must put on your calendar for next year! In fact, you may want to visit yet this summer as they have several fun events planned (like fireworks on the Fourth of July) and you can find out more information about their upcoming events here. I promise you will make family memories at Worlds of Fun!
We visited Worlds of Fun specifically to attend the 2nd Annual Food and Wine Festival. Executive Chef Kevin Williams amazed me with his samples that complimented the featured wines perfectly. I would like to give a special shout out to the Beef Wellington, BBQ Shrimp & Grits and the Coconut Chicken with a Mango and Pineapple Chutney. My mouth is watering just typing it here. Seriously awesome food crafted to perfection. There were amazing wines to quench any palate. It was so hot on Saturday that I found my thirst appeased with the sweet or semi-sweet white wines which is funny because I tend to appreciate reds more. Each vineyard produced unique flavors and I honestly had a difficult time deciding if I had a favorite (although the Citron by Somerset Ridge was delightfully refreshing). We ended up using our Vivino app and taking photos to log our favorites from each vineyard. I love supporting local vineyards so I wanted to make sure you see them all in this photo.
This event is a great idea for several reasons. 1.) Worlds of Fun is an awesome venue for family fun but it was nice to stop along and sample different appetizers with wine just for adults. 2.) I can’t think of a better place to have a get together with friends that will speak to both the adults and the kids idea of a good time. 3.) They have onsite lodging which makes Worlds of Fun a fantastic option for family reunions because you just walk to your cottage at the end of the day!
The kids had so much fun on the rides at Planet Snoopy that we actually closed out the park on Saturday. I saw quite a few people enjoy Oceans of Fun. That park closed at 7:00 p.m. so many visitors walked over to Worlds of Fun to enjoy the many roller coasters and rides until the park closed at midnight. There is lodging on the resort which made it convenient for us. The cabin we stayed in was quaint and the kids liked to call it a “tiny house.” It was perfect for our needs and I was so thankful to just walk to it at the end of a long day.
In short, it was a fun weekend trip and a short drive from Omaha that created many lasting memories that will be talked about for years to come. It seems that everyone has a story to tell about their time at Worlds of Fun whether they survived the strike of the Mamba or braved the Patriot. I would love to hear about your favorite Worlds of Fun memory!
